LIBRARY
Research has shown a clear link between the quality of a School’s Library and the general well-being of the pupils and their literacy levels. Based on this, the School Library is well furnished, welcoming and well-resourced to engage children in life-long learning by promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and helping to create confident, enthusiastic readers. The Library is conducive and equipped with attractive, up-to-date and suitable texts of different genres. It provides pupils with the real life Library experience of searching, selecting and borrowing books. Pupils are provided with both study space and informal reading areas.
The Library also provides a stimulating learning environment to enable pupils develop the skills required to become independent in using Library Resources. In “Handmaids”, Library Skills are introduced from the Nursery Stage upwards with the purpose of providing pupils of different ages and abilities with the opportunities and freedom to select, explore and read from a variety of reading materials. A Librarian is always on hand to provide guidance if needed. All staff are free to access permitted Library resources to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
